Yesterday we arrived in Italy! We drove through the most amazing mountain ranges to get here, literally through them in massive tunnels. We went first to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower, it was so great to see something that i had learned about since primary school, but there were way too many people. The Tower and the neighboring church were really pretty and well preserved. We are staying in a really nice little campsite/ village and we were upgraded to cabins, which have bathrooms in them, so after a week of camping, we were all very excited about not having to set up and take down tents! We spent today in Florence, one of the most beautiful cities i have been to yet. It has a really great feel to it and so much history. We did a walking tour of the city and then a visit to a leather makers. From there we wandered through the markets and looked at the jewelry shops on the Ponto Veccio (a beautiful old bridge, only one to survive the bombings in WW1). We ate Calzone and Gelati. We visited Michelangelo and Galilao's tombs. i didn't see the statue of David, but i have decided that I will return to Florence before i head back to Oz.We spent the night at camp, we ate at the restaurant, drank wine and were merry. The next day we headed for Rome...
