After fueling up on copious amounts of fruits, nuts and chocolate we set about doing the return walk from Te Anau to Luxmore Hut, the start of the otherwise impassable Kepler Track.
the walk was incredible, we set off wiht the sun rising in front of us over Lake Te Anau, and, after taking on board sufficient amounts of scroggin, we began the epic assent. We wound our way up the mountain, through the rain forest, occasionally treated to an ever improving view of Te Anau and its surroundings.
Not without some considerable effort we made it above the tree line and onto the top of the mountain. what an incredible and instant change it was, from the wet green forest, we were spat out onto a pure white, flat, blizzard swept track. The snow was brutal, frezing and swirling around us with impressive force
Mount Luxmore hut was one of the more unique places I've carried a Diet Coke and Dairy Milk bar to, both were much enjoyed. We finished lunch and the blizzard had abated, making our crossing back over the mountain wonderful, the views amazing.
We hit the descent where I took much delight in pointing out to Rob the specifics of the multiple pains I had endured on the accent.
Almost 9 hours later, we returned safely to Oscar. I've never been so happy to see a pimped up white transit van.
That evening we ate a lot of pizza, crisps, and I may have had a little chocolate and a drop or two of Diet Coke.

. The track was long gfone, we were up to our knees in snow, with just the way markets pointing us tward the hut. Howerver, we made it, and more so, much to Rob's delight, we made it ahead of schedule.Mount Luxmore hut was one of the more unique places I've carried a Diet Coke and Dairy Milk bar to, both were much enjoyed.
