We left Christchurch for Mt Cook stopping at Late Tekapo, a beautiful vast lake surrounded by snowy mountains. Once we'd negotiated the Japanese tourists we had a lovely walk along the lake and found a cracking spot for lunch!
We arrived in Mt Cook in the freezing cold and started the Hooker Valley track, for some beautiful walking surrounded by snow, ice and very Narni-esque scenery. Just as our walk was ending the peak of Mt Cook itself emerged to reward our endurance, an incredible sight.
Our little heater had another work out that evening and the following morning we set of for some more walking, though the weather had other ideas, so, with the snow swirling around Oscar we set off.
