The panga that arrived was a smaller boat that the one we had taken to El Castillo - and more than twice the price ($5.50 as compared to $2.50) - so there weren't as many locals on board. It stopped seven times en route back to San Carlos, as compared to about 12 times travelling the other way. The five Spaniards on our flight out also travelled on the boat back to San Carlos with us and we assumed they would be on the flight out as well. After a quick lunch of chicken, rice and beans we caught a taxi to the airport, bumping along the rutted roads
Also on the plane was the same Dutch couple that had flown from Managua to San Carlos with us. We learned that they were from The Hague and had been travelling for 3 1/2 weeks in Nicaragua and were now on their way home.
Because we weren't going to be getting back to Managua until about 3 pm, I had arranged for a van to drive us to our next destination, San Juan del Sur which was about 2 hours away. The $80 US was worth it. So far on this trip, I've just been too organized!
Our hotel at San Juan del Sur, La Posada Azul (The Blue Inn), was our splurge for the trip at $90 US a night.
