Arrived in Dubai after a 14hr flight from Melbourne, it was 0600 and 32 degrees already!!  Cleared customs quickly and met Wendy (Joels partner) who took us to their apartment.  The heat wave after walking out of the airport was incredible.

Due to the heat decided to spend most of the day at Wild Wadi Water Park.  Most shops and markets didnt open until 1600 anyway.  Awesome park, there was a body boarding wave pool that Hayden had many goes at trying to board on his knees, the speed slide was the highlight and some major wedgys at the bottom!!

Hayden said to me to tell the bograts that there were a few german g-strings....

After the water park we checked out the Deira City Centre Mall, absolutely massive and hundreds of shops with cheap electronics (dubai is all tax free).  Spent just over an hr, could have stayed for hours but Hayden was losing interest so got a taxi (had to wait an hr in line) to the Gold Souk.  It was 6pm at night and the heat in the souk would have been nearly 40 degrees.  Had a look at a few of the shops but alot of the jewellery was not really western taste.  Remembered my way back to the shop that Karinne bought her gorgeous ring last year and found a very nice white gold ring with a small diamond, the guy gave me a great deal with 60% off so bought for 700 dhms (around 250 kiwi), yay my first piece of dubai gold!! will have to get it valued when I get home.

Feeling very tired after walking round all day decided to get a taxi back to apartment and have an early night.  Next day had a sleep in which was well needed and then waited for Joel to get back from work in Fujeriah.  Walked to Lamcy plaza the closest mall, even hotter today, would have been mid 40's just before lunchtime.

Joel got home and took us out into the desert and we did some 4x4 quadbike riding which was great fun in the sand dunes, saw some camels and a cute baby camel (who tried to eat my handbag), ostrichs, owls and monkeys.

Back to city and out for tea to a nice spanish restaurant, some nice paella and sangria.  Tried out a few of the local bars and a crazy drink called a bull frog.  Most bars were fairly quiet but managed to get in some crazy dancing and then headed back to the apartment.  Joel got out the vodka when we got back as a nightcap, dangerous!!

Up early in the morning to catch a taxi to the airport to fly out to London.

Thanks Joel and Wendy for your hospitality, much appreciated, wish we could have stayed longer, will have to make it to the indoor snowplanet next time!

London here we come, look forward to catching up with family and friends.
