Where I stayed

On Monday morning, we crossed the border into Argentina and met up with my parents, who had just arrived from Buenos Aires.  After getting settled into the fancy hotel (with both hot AND cold running water! and a pool! and welcome drinks!) we spent a few hours starting our exploration of the Argentina side of Iguassu Falls.

On the first day, we checked out a path known as the Devil`s Throat.  You walk down an elevated boardwalk which takes you across the river and out right to the edge of the largest set of falls in the park.  It`s absolutely amazing -- just a few feet below you, you can see, hear and even feel millions of gallons of water pouring down the falls.  The falls themselves create quite a bit of mist, so you end up soaked while standing there.  We stood there for over an hour, just soaking up the views before returning for a relaxing evening back in town.

Tuesday, we headed back to the falls.  Our first stop was an area known as the Lower Circuit, which allows you to see the falls from the the bottom.  Again, you can get soaked walking through the mist produced from the falls, and the views are absolutely spectacular.  From here, we also took a speedboat ride to see the falls from the river.  You go in a sort of y-shape, heading up towards the base of two different falls for some great views and pictures.  Then you get a minute to put your things away and before you know it, you`re speeding up even closer, and closer, and then right underneath the falls.  Yes, underneath the falls -- you can`t even open your eyes, and the water is amazingly powerful.  From here, you head back up the other side of the y and go again under another fall.  It was fantastic -- an absolute must-do.

Afterwards, we stopped for a quick lunch, then headed to the Upper Circuit.  This, of course, gives you a view of the falls from above, and some great panoramas.  As we were enjoying the views, another American came up and asked if John would be willing to take a video (using an iphone) as he proposed to his girlfriend.  What a backdrop!!! She was quite surprised, and said yes.

Again, words just don`t describe the falls.  Neither will the pictures, but it was a clear highlight for our trip, and well worth spending three days at!
