Wow, from one extreme to another. After the jittering teeth suffered in Bolivia with the sub zero temperatures it was now time to experience the opposite end of the scale. The night started off boiling, so I just slept in my liner with no trousers on, a massive contrast to the 10 layered Michelin man + sleeping bag liner + sleeping bag, but luckily it got much colder in the middle of the night and I resorted to using the lodge's blanket. We woke up nice and early to the birds chirping and to the sound of nature at 6:30am to have our breakfast, this was together with Sebastian's phone playing a song- he loves music/singing. Such a funny man!

At 8am, we took a jeep/wagoon thing on a safari out of the ranch and through the surrounding wetlands which was good fun and we saw lots of different types of birds eg storks, toucans and lots of caymen aligators! We also saw the track of an anachonda on the road, to which the drivers jumped out to try and find. At first we had know idea what was going on as they ventured off road into the bushes to try and find this beast! Then we saw the impressive tracks on the road- huge! We also spotted a toucan just chilling peacefully in the tree. I think throughout the entire day we only passed one other car, it was so tranquil and so we could fully appreciate the wildlife on offer in Pantanal, Brazil's wetlands

We stopped at two different sites to go piranah fishing with these fishing rods made out of bamboo. We stopped at two bridges which made up the road but instead of hunting for the piranhas we were paying more attention to the cayman alligator that was attracted to our meat! Eventually the cayman alligator bit onto the meat and Barney was unable to move his rod in time and so it had to keep snapping its mouth together to free itself! Crazy!

We drove back in the boiling heat and Barney and I kept dozing off in the jeep, must've been the heat! We got back to the ranch and it was too hot to do anything so we all just chilled out. I read my book for an hour on the grass and then listened to my iPod in the hammocks outside while everyone had a siesta.

At 3, we all went horseriding for free and had to wear these ridiculous blue hard hats, as we went through the jungle again in the ranch. It was just as good as yesterday, the weather was great, the scenery was breathtaking and the wildlife was impressive. We saw another monkey and at one point a cobra scared some of the horses and they all just jumped to the side really really quickly- so scary. We also had to walk through loads of the swamps again, this time on the horses with the tails of the horses in front soaking us!

At night we all sat around the camp fire again, this time with the Brazilian kids, Lucas aged around 15/16 who had a massive crush on Denise- hilarious! Sebastian played matchmaker with the little Brazilian kid and forced Barney and Lauren together (been on the cards for a while now) It was hilarious, Aoife had this Portugese phrasebook and was giving Denise rude/sexual stuff to say, she was clueless, and then we made her go an a walk with him, but she wasn't having it. SO funny! Then reluctantly, we made Barney and Lauren go on the "cupid's table" and with the help of Aoife and her phrasebook, they finally accepted what was going on... haha so funny. In other news, Aisling and I are the spinsters with cats. Brilliant.
