I love Mexican food, but today I would do anything, anything, for one of the following... Nando's with my mum, Santuccis with my dad, a full English breakfast after early morning training, Roosters with Steph or Rosh, Chinese watching MUFC with Hannah and Huggy, Wagamamas with the girls, and any kind of takeaway with my sis in front of the tv... oh, and throw in my foam roller. Please.

If you have been reading my blog regularly you will have probably, like my dad, formed a slight annoyance at me for the amount of times I have written about food; nachos and tacos in particular. Eight months ago I tasted my first Salbute and a Panucho- Yucatan delicacies. Eight months ago I fell victim to my first bout against Revancha. Montezumas revenge against the foreigners. The Elephant picture explains what I'm talking about...

The constant position changing on the toilet was something I had to battle with almost every month since October for 1-2 weeks. My own fault not facing up to the fact that I had to make the dreaded visit to the doctors. Finally, this week I made the trip and after some prodding, screaming and blood tests, the trip of course involved a rather awkward exchange regarding being given a pot and being sent to the toilet... I had to make sure what was wanted of me, as up to this point my Spanish was going great, but then in the laboratory the nurse was saying words that I had never heard before, whilst trying to explain exactly what she required from me and the pot. I was unsure of what she was saying, so I had to ask, but the only word for "poo" that I could remember, which wasn't rude, was "popis." Pinche Mexican's version of saying it, because it sounds nicer, apparently. The nurse couldn't hold it in, she just burst out laughing as I walked shamefully to the toilet. It is like a 21 year old asking a nurse in England, "do you want my poooopies?"

Three days later, a diagnosis of Gastrocolitis and my results came back positive for 4 things... one which will make sense for readers instantly is Salmonella which isn't good, especially considering I've been this way for 8 months. Pinche Kim. Anyway here is a photo of all the medication I will be on for 3 weeks, no need to worry though, hopefully I will be fine!

The weekend before my 3rd year project was due in, we spent relaxing and exploring. Here are a couple of photos from a beautiful cenote some of us visited near Playa del Carmen which was surrounded by the jungle and toxic trees. This was the first cenote I have been to with zipwires and rope crossings to play with, a really nice and relaxing day! Such a beautiful setting and the colour of the water was as green as the scenery surrounding us.

Here are some photos of the girls in Sweet, now that the YARP is well and truly out of our lives, back to the guilt-free appreciation of the Barra Libre. This night I was on the dancefloor the entire time, minus the minutes spent running back and forth from our table to top up my drink. Free bottle/table service. Boom baby. Cancun is fun.

The most exciting news of this week is that, MICHELLE "RYDO SHELLBO" PERRY IS IN CANCUN. Reunited after 2 years! One of the best mates I have met whilst travelling, and we spent the Summer of 2011 together and had an absolutely amazing time (see other blogs if you so desire...) You will read that I was hysterically crying whilst fighting for air when I said goodbye to her in San Francisco. Given that I am a pohmy living in England, and she is an Aussie girl through and through, the chances of seeing each other again within the next 5 years was optimistic... Who would have thought we would be reunited two years later in CANCUN!?! Ahh amazing! The first ten minutes was mental, I just couldn't look at her properly, it was SO surreal!

I can't explain in words just how good it was to catch up with this girl, what a legend, I managed to sneak into her hotel and enjoy the free drinks all evening. The next day after work, I bought Maryanna along with me so she could meet Shellbo and have a laugh at her accent. I reassured her that it was easy to sneak into the hotel. We tried. We failed. After trying to enter from the beach and then from reception, we were finally thrown out. Embarrassing. Maryanna was dying of embarrassment and hating me ahaha, I wasn't phased, this sort of embarrassment is pretty normal in my life, eh? We got to spend some time at the beach with Rydo Perry and then we went, with our heads hanging in shame, to another beach within the Hotel Zone where we were able to ride Jet Ski's for free :D

The sea was absolutely beautiful, the bluest of blue, with no waves. Perfect.

The next day, I tried my luck at spending the day at Shellbo's hotel again. Success! For a little bit, until the lifeguard from the day before spotted me in the pool, so I followed Shell's advice and "ducked" under the water whilst he walked past, making it blindingly obvious haha. We quickly rushed to the sunbeds as he got onto his WalkieTalkie to call over the security. The same man from the day before walked backwards and forwards in front of our group before finally coming over to try and chuck me out. Uh-oh he wasn't happy and he was saying that this is the 2nd time he has had to chuck me out, and that he wasn't going to leave until he saw me walking down the steps to the beach. Sad times. Time to put my best Spanish into use.

It took a good 15 minutes pleading with him in the best Spanish I have ever spoken (desperate times,) saying that "I wasn't going to cause any trouble" and that all I wanted to do was sit on the lounger with my friends. He told me again that the only way was to pay $133 for a room, or they would charge Shell's room if I didn't leave. We told our sob story of how we hadn't seen each other in two years, and Shell kindly taking off her hotel bracelet for me to persuade him to let me stay, eventhough she knows about my fat hands... appreciate the thought mate.

Eventually he fell for my charm... well... my first ever bribe! Only in Mexico. After a hilarious turn of events, the serious and intimidating look on his face was wiped away as he suddenly became my best friend bitching about the lifeguards. He told me that he didn't want to get in trouble and asked how he could guarantee that I wouldn't tell anyone what he did; I reassured him that all I wanted to do was chill with my friends. He sent a message over the radio telling the rest of the staff that he had completed his mission and that I had been chucked out. He then went to the Office to watch the videocameras and then he came back, with a napkin wiping the sweat off his head, and said I'm best off in the pool. The deal was set, I'd meet him at 3pm under the Palapa, away from the cameras. Brilliant. He gave me tips on how to get in for the next time, and where there are no cameras. Friend for life. Haha.

So glad to have spent the day there with Shell, her friends, the food and the drinks; such a good day and worth every pesito!

Weekend plans involve the beach, two basketball matches Saturday evening, and a trip to Cozumel on Sunday.

Big love to all those at home reading :)
