After our wildlife spotting in Sasan Gir we made the long trek north aiming for Rajashtan finally. It took us a day and a half to cover about 700km but we made it in one piece to the state border and then eventually to our first stop........Mt Abu.
There is a 25km climb to the town and the first thing we noticed was the incredible change in climate, as soon as we left the dusty plains and started climbing the temperature seemed to drop and the vegatation became much greener !! we were so relieved when we reached the top and found out we were down to about 35 c after being at 45c on the plains.
The town at the top of mt Abu is a quiet quaint little place with lots of cheap hotels and we found one called Shree Ganesh and checked in. The best thing about this hotel is the front yard which doubles as a restaurant and was a great common area where we met lots of interesting people, such as Darren from Sligo (back home), Laheif from Oz, Christian from Cincinatti and Stuart, Matt and Charlie from the UK who we took great pleasure in taking lots of rupees off playing Texas hold'em .
From the hotel we did some trekking and believe it or not an Indian cooking class which after Charlie cut his hand turned into us all sitting watching the lady cook our dinner........ thanks Charlie !!
After 5 great , peaceful days here chilling we decided to leave on the 12th for Udaipur to avoid travelling on the dreaded Friday 13th !!!
