Entry 10 of 21 | show all | print this entry

ok folks, you've just started writing my first english post here...so time for some Germans to activate their dictionaries.
i'm back in vancouver now... had to escape this vancouver island. but:
it wasn't only because of the island and the mostly empty streets. it
turned out to be quite nice though, neat and tidy towns and apart from
them nice landscape. the train ride was again a historical experience.
the first hostel was a quite historical one (as well as Victoria - the
capital of BC), but at least clean an d fairly quiet. the mens dorm was
one room, divided into about 6 bed compartments. snoarers welcome... the
second one in nanaimo was nicer, but again had no lockers and some
people in it that didn't think it would be necessary to lock the door.
at least, they weren't drug addicted, as the ones in my first vancouver
hostel.

after the nice but short 2hr walk through all (!) important areas of
the town yesterday, i woke up this morning in the hostel in nanaimo,
hoping for a nice and sunny day, with about 20 degrees (ok, let's say
10). the weather decided again to do its own thing: at least 20cm of
new snowfall. people were driving around with snow chains. couldn't
believe it. was nice to look at it, but thats not the reason why i came
to the west coast, right?! had a nice winter-wonderland walk through
the snow to the ferry then. my shoes had completely forgotten that they
were once water-proof, but that was not new, I already had that problem
in montreal. montreal? east? right, let's take a look at their weather:

Sun
A mix of sun and cloud 21°C / 11°C

Mon
A mix of sun and cloud 22°C / 11°C

Tue
Sunny 21°C / 11°C

wasn't that in the area of canada, where it was freezing cold, when
i was there? but don't know, what i would prefer, if i was stuck in the
library studying and having a couple of exams ahead :P
now: vancouver

Sun
Chance of rain showers or flurries7°C / 2°C

Mon
Chance of rain showers or flurries9°C / 2°C

Tue
Sunny11°C / 5°C

hang on ... i thought i had to depart on monday?!
however, back in vancouver in the early afternoon, the weather
turned out not to be too bad. was really nice and sunny, but still:
warm is something different. hoping for san francisco now...
