Alli and I meandered the cobble stone streets wondering what fun the night would bring/ We would soon learn we would not be disappointed...
The bus arrived on schedule. Unfortunately there was little room for Moms Dads and Allis overpacked luggage as some old village woman was transporting 20 sacks of potatoes on the local greyhound/
We waited for 20 min as they unpacked all the luggage to repack the luggage/ In the meantime Mom and Alli boarded the bus and sat in a random seat/ Likely not the best decision as the seats were assigned and the local was not pleased his items had been moved/ Fortunately they received reissued tickets and they were not sacrificed for their wrongdoing/
The bus took off rumbling down the streets/ Unknown to usmajor road construction was going on over the entire journey/ Imaging riding inside a wash machine for 10 hours with Turkish commercials in a loop blasting over the speakers and TV/ Commericals not actual TV for the trip entirety
The bus randomly stopped at 9pm and 230 am for 30 min breaks/ The family chose to pay 75c to use the water closet yet I found the building side wall to be quite accomidating/
At 415 am the bus suddenly stopped and our destination was called/ Mind you we were on the side of a freeway/ We unloaded along with 4 other tourists waiting in the cold for 15 minutes for another shuttle bus to arrive/ They took us to downtown Pamukkale where the real fun began
Surprisingly the bus company was located next to a hotel/ The bus owners offered us a room in this shanty bus we passed based on another recommendation/ We played cards to pass the time until daybreak/
At 530 the bus owner mentioned how nice his rooms were/ At 6 the hotel owner told us about the great package he could arrange/ At 630 he informed that he called the hotel but they could not come for another hour / At 7 he recommended his rooms yet again/ At 730 another great package with another special price/ At 8 I saved a turkish life or two as I took dad for a walk/ He was one more package deal away from complete meltdown/
We found our hotel only 3 blocks away/ Not surprisingly they did not ever get a call fromthe bus company/ We ended up choosing another hotel with friendly hosts called Artemis with dad planning his destruction of the Kamelcok bus company
We found a hidden gem taking the minibus up to a small hot spring with locals. As the family dabbled in the hot healing spring water I chose the all inclusive package. For no extra charge I befriended a local grandma and we proceeded to give eachother mannis and pettis using the steaming hot spring mud/ I may be married but am not quite sure/
We napped for an hour in the afternoon and went to the famous travertines of Pamukkale/ The pictures will show all you need/ The exhaustion was ever present as we aimlessly meandered through the travertines/
We enjoyed supper at a local spot with a view of the travertines/ Overwhelmed when he discovered Missouri beat Oklahoma dad took a body shot off the restaurant owner/ Later confiding that no salt was needed
We went to bed at 8am real effin tired/ Good times.
