Where I stayed

We made our way less than an hour North of Squamish to stay at Whistler, which is pretty much a skiing village, purpose built for Winter Sports tourism. In the Summer it also gets really popular for hiking and mountain biking. It's a very picturesque area and still has plenty of snow at the top of the two main moutains - Whistler and Blackcombe.

The village is quite modern, probably from investment for the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010, and it's kind of like living in a huge posh holiday camp. We stayed in a nice lodge which had 2 floors, and most importantly a balcony with a hot tub. At night you could really relax out there and enjoy the fresh Canadian air (or breathe marijuana smoke which semed to drift through the village quite frequently lol).

With the lodge being so nice, the weather being a bit iffy, and the time of year meaning there were limited things to do in what is normally a bustling Winter Sports village, we ended up spending most of our time relaxing "at home". We did do the must-do attraction in Whistler though which is to ride the Peak 2 Peak gondola which stretches between Whilstler & Blackcombe mountains. It holds world records for the longest free span between ropeway
towers—3.03 kilometres (1.88 miles) and highest point above the
ground—436 metres (1,430 feet.). Basically its bloody high up and takes a long time to get across! In addition to that you have to take a 30min gondola ride up the mountain before you can get onto the Peak 2 Peak to go across. As well as this we also took a ski-lift up to the very peak of Whistler which was... fun. The views from the top were great as well (when the clouds cleared). Then the long trip back down was also... fun. Did I mention I don't really like heights? Check the vids...
