Preparations begin, really for real

Not long to go now... in fact, I am now within the magic 30 days before departure. That means for every receipt I get - that totals more than $300 - I can claim GST back on it at the airport customs as I leave. This essentially means an open-slather spending spree for the next month. To be fair, I have held off buying much of my holiday inventory so that they would qualify for the 10% rebate, but it means a hectic few weeks to finalise quite a few purchases: backpack, mp3 player, digital camera, clothes, adapters etc...
I have finally paid for my Round-The-World ticket, and after much consideration have decided to also buy travel insurance (a first for me). NOT an easy decision considering it is a $1200 burn - that's about $3 a day! I've also taken the plunge by ordering a 60GB video iPod. While I'm not the greatest fan of iPods, all other options are simply so crap that the decision was a no-brainer. Main factor is that I can use it to store my photos as I go along, which will free up the memory on my digicam.
