Sorry it has been a few days since I have written anything.  It has just been so hectic since I left Switzerland.  When I was there I had plenty of time to write and update but it cost 5 dollars for an hour, so that was out.  I was actually getting kind of lonely in Switzerland because it was full of nothing but couples on Holiday.  However, I was barely in Brugges two minutes when I met a girl from, you'll never guess, Australia.  She was also traveling on her own and told me about a free tour that was leaving from the hostel in 5 minutes.  So I joined her along with a bunch of others and headed out to see Brugges.  Granted Brugges is not that big of a town, but I really don't remember any of the tour because I was so busy talking to people.  It was so nice having a conversation again!

So along the way we met another Australian, Celeste, and an American who was now working in Munich.  All four of us went out for a nice dinner and then drinks.  It was so wonderful finding people that you hit it off with right away.  Not that I didn't meet nice people in Luzern.  Two of my roommates even left me a bowl of soup because they knew I was sick.  But Switzerland was so full of people doing their own thing that I felt as if I was intruding.  So it was such a relief to get to Belgium and find people that were ready to hang out.

Yesterday Hannah and I simply relaxed, walked around and did laundry.  Can I just say how much of an exercise it is to do laundry in a completely different country.  Where they use a completely different language.  Luckily, though we didn't bleach any of our clothes or flood the place, so Cheers!  Last night we decided to make it an early night, however half way through the night we were awoken by this American girl screaming in the hallway.  Apparently a guy had grabbed her butt and she had to make a scene about it.  You know, cuz that NEVER happens in the US.  So she was cursing at him and then he insulted the USA and then she started screaming about him being from the east and then Iraq was brought up.  Meanwhile people are trying to get them to shut up, since it's 3am.  Eventually the police were called.  And this is why I love staying in Hostels, and I'm not being sarcastic in the slightest.  Everything is so much more fun.

So this morning we all checked out of our room.  It was funny because all 8 of us in the room were ready to leave at 9, but we just all sat around talking for 2 hours about various things and then barely made checkout at 11am.  And now Hannah and I are in Brussels.  She re-arranged her schedule for a day and decided to join me in Brussels before she heads to Paris and then back home.  She also has recommended quite a few useful things to me in way of where to visit in Amsterdam and a Highlands tour I should do when I go back to Scotland.

You see this is what I love about traveling.  Last week I was pretty much on my own.  And while I have no problem being by myself, it can get lonely.  And then faster than you can say Belgian Waffle I am surrounded by awesome people.  European travel is so exciting and so unexpected and that's what makes it so wonderful.  Every city brings a new adventure with new people.  And what makes it especially crazy is that I never even planned to stay in Brugges, and now I am so glad I did.  It is definitely hard because in Europe everyone is going every which way.  And more times than not you meet people who are headed to the place you just were.  But you take it in stride and move on to the next big city and open yourself up to the next big experience.  You may only meet some people for a couple of days or even a couple of hours, but because everyone is in a different unknown place you develop instant bonds.  And hey, you get a bunch of new Facebook friends!
