The people are ridiculously friendly and helpful. They will actually go out of their way to help you.
There is good Mexican food: go to Acapulco restaurant on Georges St.
The Brazen Head, although it would seem to be a major tourist spot being the oldest pub in Dublin (est. 1198) is actually full of locals and has good food and drink at decent prices.
The best thing about the Guinness factory is the Gravity Bar at the top. It has spectacular views that you can't find anywhere else in Dublin
Jameson whiskey doesn't taste any better in Dublin. Then again I'm not a huge whiskey fan.
You can get sunburned in Ireland.
You can walk everywhere in Dublin, you really don't need the bus. Well everywhere but the docks. Don't walk to the docks. It is a lot longer than you think it is!
Stephens Green has the best playground ever. And it is a lovely park.
Spar is a great mini grocery and convenience store where you can find great pastries/sandwiches/ and other amenities for REALLY awesome prices.
If staying at Four Courts Hostel make sure to bring your own hand soap and hand towel since they don't provide them.
Have fun and lookout for random things happening all the time.
Oh, and don't expect the Irish to be in any hurry. As one of our tour guides said, "If something is done on time it is done three years too early." Figure that one out.
