I guess some could say this is a bit early in my trip to be making such monumental statements but that's kind of what the last two days were: great surprises.

A-team and I met up with Chris and Jess for dinner on Saturday. And where did we go? A Mexican restaurant on George St near Temple Bar and guess what? It was really good. The service was great and the food was excellent. Surprise! And then yesterday, Sunday, we went to go see the Oscar Wilde monument. PS this was one of my favorite monuments ever because it is a statue of Wilde lounging on a rock, completely content. I feel like this is one of the only monuments that not only represents the figure's physical nature but also their personal nature: a touch of cynicism mixed with humor. So after we went to this monument we stumbled upon none other than the Street Performer's World Championships. And we got to see last year's champions, the USA Break-dancers. It was a great experience especially since it happened at random. We also got to be near a Guinness world record. That's right we were right next to the record for the most people bouncing on body balls for a consecutive minute. There were 1600 people in case you were curious. It was one of those great experiences that can only happen when you least expect it and I
loved it.

Another great surprise happened later that night when I went to find a pay phone so I could call my dad for fathers day. There was no phone to be found anywhere near the hostel so Chris had the great idea to ask someone in the Brazen Head (the oldest pub in Dublin, which is also where we had dinner). The manager said he didn't know of one but that I could use his phone, as long as I didn't call all my family members. WHAT? You don't find that kind of genuine generosity, but here this man was, offering a complete strange his phone so she could call her dad. Even people can surprise you if you let them.
