After Wittenberg I kept on the road to Minneapolis.  I was tired and a cold was brewing in my head and chest and more than anything I wanted a sub from Jimmy John's and to sleep in or about the Twin Cities.

I got the second one (I got the Turkey and unfortunately, they make them better in South Carolina than they do in WI) the first one took a bit longer.

I was cruising along at a nice rate of speed.  Everyone was flying on this highway and then I see a car coming from the center cross.  It speeds up behind me and the flashers engulf my rear views and I'm now pulling over.

It's a Wisconsin State Trooper and he's being way too nice.  I'm nice-ing him back.  "Yes, Sir's" all around.  I'm doing all the right things, politeness, hands up on the wheel, in clear vision of the Statie the whole bit.

After a series of questions he gave me the serious ticket.  I mean serious.  Bake sale serious.  Telethon serious.  Yahoo Serious.  Drained of my resolve to continue on to Minneapolis and dealing with an emboldened cold I turned in to the lovely Motel Super 8 in Baldwin, WI.

The indignity of such a huge fine was one thing but, tripled with the cold and the "Check Engine" light in my car, well.  That was a bit much.  Still I'm feeling sunny about the whole thing even though I sound like Lou Rawls on a very bad day.

The next day I wake up struggling with this cold.  I go to a Super Value that is really into salesmanship and looks like a Pathmark circa 1978 to get supplies.  Armed with Gain I hit the laundry at the hotel and get a wash done.

Then I rest in the lobby of the Motel updating the blog and talking to Marla about Brendan Benson.  I'm considering going to the show  (last night) but, know nothing about the guy.
Marla give me the "go sign" for the show.  So it's on.  I leave Baldwin on my way to the Twin Cities or was I?
