We took a day off from being tourists in Santorini, Greece, and enjoyed a perfect, warm, sunny spring day on the bay beneath the steep cliffs of this island. The scenery is spectacular. The villages atop the cliffs are whitewashed, so the tops of the cliffs appear to be snow covered. Whitewashing the homes and the grounds is a custom left over from WWII when the island was overrun by fleas from animals brought in by the troops. The whitewash contains lime, which apparently kills the fleas. Mom and I stayed on board the ship and relaxed (well at least we relaxed whenever she wasn't drawn into a bridge game where they needed a third and fourth!)
