Tuesday, we decided to go check out Montjuic. Montjuic is a hill in Barcelona with breathtaking views of the city. It also houses the 1992 Olympic Stadium and the Castell de Montjuic. Montjuic

Then we trekked up the large hill to the very top to visit the Castell de Montjuic. The fortress largely dates from the 17th century, with 18th century additions. In 1842 the garrison (loyal to the Madrid government) shelled parts of the city following disturbances. It served as a prison, often holding political prisoners, until the time of General Franco. The castle was the site of numerous executions. On one side of fortress is amazing views of the city, on the other is a view of the sea and the industrial port. View 1
