Our strategy on packing was to lay out everything on our beds first and try to go minimalistic! We completed a checklist to make sure we didn't forget anything and then packed it. While we can take as much as we like on the American Airlines flight to Shanghai, the flights in intra-Asia will only allow us to check 20 kilograms which means that's the constraint I have to work with.
I spent a lot of money on a nice, large Tumi suitcase a couple of years ago. One big problem, it's too heavy! I learned this in Australia and I kept having trouble with it being overweight. So, I've found the lightest suitcase I can get so hopefully we won't run into any troubles. It's packed now and I think I'm all set. We'll see tomorrow when we check-in for the flights.
Our flight leaves Austin in the morning at 7:50AM, so we'll have to get up at 5:00AM. Major is already asleep, but told us to make sure and not forget to wake him up. We watched "Home Alone" a couple of nights ago and I have a feeling that was in the back of his mind somewhere. He has insisted on packing his 4 dogs (stuffed animals) along with a comfortable blanket. He's taken up his entire back pack with this stuff. I convinced him to leave 1 dog behind to keep Tex comfortable. I will see if I can convince him to leave some more behind tomorrow morning before we leave.
I'm done. Everything that I can think that needs to get done is done. Off to bed. Alarm set for 5:00AM
