Today we left Austria, and headed for Prague, but first stopped off at Mauthausen concentration camp. It's a terrible thing to see the way that humanity treated each other in the Second World War, but acts as a reminder of how far we've come. The horrors will continue to haunt the camp forever. Mauthausen was a work camp. Many of the buildings are still intact, as well as the walls and barbed wire. The atmosphere was thick with sadness the entire time. There was no guided tour. It was simply an audio tape. The most terrifying part was the living conditions, and the ovens/gas chambers. To think that I was standing in the very area where thousands of people suffered, is upsetting, but really changes perspective. We have so much, and take it all for granted. The very fact that I'm 21, and have never held a gun, had to shoot someone, or been in a situation where my family was in grave danger, shows how good we all have it. Definitely a somber visit, but an important and powerful one.

Once we left, we headed to Prague. Upon arrival we hit the pool and the sauna, then went to dinner. After dinner, we had a walking tour of the city. Prague is a really nice city. We took the metro (subway) to get to the heart of the city, then looked at some of the old buildings and architecture, a Jewish ghetto, and the shopping regions. After this we went straight to a pub where our 'pub crawl' began. It was €16, and that allowed for unlimited drinks (as you can imagine, that provided much potential for things to get messy). At the first pub, we played a few games, and had a couple beers, but from there on, once we arrived at other pubs/clubs, the drinks actually weren't free at all! Now this didn't bother me, but definitely rattled some cages. It was still a fun night though. At the club we danced non stop till it was time to go. By the third pub, we decided to leave. After finding enough taxis to transport us all, we headed home. It was a fun night.
