At the risk of recalling many B-grade Hollywood Action-flick moments, we set out on our little mission to tour Europe with the hope that we wouldn't have to leave a man behind. Valiant as he fought, the cold climates of Northern Europe and the hilly landscape of Southern Europe was too much to bear for young Fiddy.

And, as such, I regretfully inform you all that he was laid to rest on 11/01/11 in Buitrago de Lozoya, Spain.

He gave us many memorable moments, made the trip possible in fact, and I would bet he is certainly the most toured cinquecento in history, and undoubtedly used the most as a mobile home.

The last few hours were messy, unfortunately. We struggled up one last hill after nearly over-heating, pulled off the auto-pista and knew that he wouldn't go any further. We called the ADAC (the German motoring club who totally saved us), and were towed to the nearest garage. It was there that it was confirmed, Fiddy was terminal and not to be driven henceforth. We then spent the next 2 days trying to make our way back to Stuttgart after a spate of errors regarding hire-cars and flights to Germany. With this resolved we began clearing our things from the car, salvaging what we could – donating the rest to the local church, and taking as many mementos out of the car as possible.

We left him behind, heartbroken and carrying about 60kgs of luggage for the long trip home (most of which was dragged out and repeatedly scanned by the confused and very concerned customs guards at the airport).

He will always be missed, but never forgotten :’(
