Heading south to the Black Forest, entering through Schiltach and making it to Triberg, we were thoroughly treated to the two things the region is most famous for – 1) Cuckoo Clocks and 2) Black Forest Cake.

Amongst the beautiful traditional old buildings, we entered many of the cuckoo clock shops around, which were quite honestly amazing and impressive in terms of the workmanship on show as well as just a little bit strange (and expensive as hell). Topping it off was seeing the two largest cuckoo clocks in the world, which have the most dull hourly alarms imaginable (even worse than those of Prague and Munich).

Before heading onwards and out, we dropped by to have a slice of Black Forest made in the originating café and per the original recipe. Delicious (and quite different to the variety you see nowadays).
