Where I stayed
. Half the time their bodies are really strange and the rest of the time they are in the most ludicrous situation or there are a heap of nudes and they all look the same like clones. I much rather look at a portrait of a noble of some sort or a scene from history. I actually like to be able to read their personalities in their faces or look at their clothes or what ever. Speaking of which there are some wonderful clothes to be looked at and they are painted so wonderfully well. Anyway back to Zurich after spending some enjoyable time with the Van Goghs and Chagalls we went to the park along the waterfront and had icecream (again) and wandered. It is the 1st and people are preparing for national swiss day celebrations. There is a pretty nice ambience and young people everywhere, swimming, carribean music etc... We walk as far as an outdoor lake side bar and have lunch and a drink (hello wasps). Nice and expensive but much better price and quality than the over priced meal in Zug the night before (in Zug it was about 40 CHF for a main course, the food came out different to the order and the service was pretty bad too, remember 1CHF = 1.05AUD). It's not long until we are being warned of rain so we head back to the train station and go back to Zug.
Well can't say I've seen a lot of Zurich but I have seen a bit. We went first to the Kunsthaus. It cost about 25 CHF which is unprecedented. A bit of a shocking way to be introduced to Switzerland really. But never the less there are some pretty amazing modernist art works here and a rather broad range too, also some works by artists I have not yet had a chance to see such as Chagall, Van Gogh and Monet. Really they have a bit of everything (but then I have thought that before in art galleries and then on entering the next one realise that there is still so much more to be seen) we get free audio guides so that at least makes it a bit more interesting but time consuming as they sometimes dribble on too much. I am not a great fan of religious art, except the medieval stuff which is guilt and embossed and the bodies are odd and they mostly wear medieval fashions and are a bit cartoonish and weird. Also I find most nudes pretty dull to be honest, if I have to see another naked baby jesus I may just go a bit crazy, so I try to not see them
