I took a Student Agency bus to Wein (Vienna) and it dropped me off in some ridiculous area.  Turned out to be a short walk from a train station in which, it turns out, everything is all in German and not a single information booth (with a human in it) to help me.  I spend about 1 hour trying to find where I am on the map and then trying to find where I need to go and which train to catch.  But after a bit of pain I figure it out. My hostel is a bit out of the way, and massive and a HI hostel too.  (Have I mentioned that I don't much like HI hostels yet?)  I prepare myself not to like it much and it met that expectation despite the fact that the rooms are good with space etc and there were only 2 people each night I stayed and one I was alone entirely which was nice.  The breakfast was extensive but average and running out by the time I got there the first day so that I couldn't even get hot water for a cup of tea.
In Vienna I was actually getting increasingly sicker and I was not particularly happy about it as it worried me a lot.  The reason I did not exactly warm to Vienna was, not that it decided to rain and get cold, but that it is so spread out and the historical areas don't mix with the contemporary areas.  This kinda makes a sole less city.  The historical buildings are grand and impressive and the city centre has some nice historical buildings but the two seem disconnected and disconnected even further from the suburbs and the real people of Vienna. Vienna also didn't have many good places to eat (that were easy to find) so I just ate pizza or pasta which were cheap and decent but not exactly 'local' flavours.  I ended up doing 6 museums in 2 days while there and this cost me about 60 EUR.  I went to the Leopold Museum 11 EUR which I thought was pretty good, and MOMUK 9 EUR a contemporary art gallery which had some interesting works, the best was the KHM Kunsthistorisches Museum 12 EUR which had some very impressive works and hours of viewing pleasure including a great exhibition on Egyptian art, Sissi's palace and exhibition 9.9 EUR, the Theatre Museum (more appropriate to call it the Opera History Museum I would think, and is over priced 8 EUR) and the Sucession building (Contains a Klimt Mural in the basement and a contemporary art exhibition which was over priced 8.5 EUR).  So as a summary Vienna has some grand architecture and some great museums but that's where my interest ran short.  Plus finding my way to the train station to leave Vienna proved equally challenging as when I arrived for all the same reasons.
