What I did
Ancient city of Permigmom

The ancient city of Permigmom sits high on a hill and requires a cable car to get to it. It was the second largest cultural centre in the world after Alexandria in Egypt. The original city wall dates back to 12th century BC and had a population of 100,000. It remained at peace with various conquests happening around it until 405AD when it ceased to exist. After it inhabitants rejected Christianity, they all suicided on April 1st by jumping offthe city walls. Permigmom discovered parchment paper, was the home of Hippocrates and the Centre of Medicine, had the first known hospital and had a library of 200,000 books. Once again, Mehmet, our guide brought it to life.
Second stop was the ancient city of Troy or Troia as the turks call it. This was also a huge seaport in its time. The sea is now 12 kilometres away. Not much remains here now but they have done some excavations of the 9 different civilisations of Troy that existed from 3000BC to 500AD when it ceased to exist because the sea was no longer close so the people left..We relied on Mehmet to bring it to life since there's not a lot of ruins to look at. We had fun on the replica of the Trojan horse though.

Sounds so great Kerry!! Making me very jealous indeed. Although, the long haul flight story is making me dread mine at the end of the year! They really are torture. Looking forward to seeing some pictures!

It just gets more and more fascinating. I cannot wait to see the video footage of these places, it is all just so spectacular. I'm a little less excited about the US now haha. Can't wait to speak to you again. Love and miss you xxx
