th December We drove East to avoid entering Gambia (it would have required double entry visas for Senegal - look at a map), and crossed the Gambia River. Cookgroup with Amanda - Marianne was ill. Bushcamped.
th December Amanda & I did lunch. Got to the Guinea border, where it took 4.5 hours to process 15 passports. We spent the time playing frisbee with the local kids. The last 9 passports took 45 minutes - there had been a change of shift! We bushcamped & I saw my 1st scorpion.
st December Jonathan & Marianne found a scorpion under their tent as they packed up in the morning!   We drove all day along dirt roads, passing the source of the Gambia River, crossing a broken bridge & taking a hand operated ferry (where a couple of vultures watched our passage) . Bushcamped.
nd December In the morning we were on dirt roads - we all looked tanned from the dust! After approx 2pm we were back on tarmac. Bushcamped.
rd December We exchanged a bag of clothes for a large bag of oranges with the locals. Drove all day through jungly hills, and bushcamped on a farm, by the farmhouse.
