Where I stayed
Youth Olympic Village Singapore
There is great excitement in the air this morning as Courtney and I got ourselves ready to visit Maddie at the Youth Olympic Village. Maddie organised a 4 hour pass for me and another team mate Holly organised a pass for Courtney so we very lucky to experience the village.
No wonder the kids are all having such a great time, there are things going on everywhere with the cultural education programs, meetings, and other such things, not to mention training sessions as well, and the cool down swim in the pool which Maddie definitely enjoys. They are all finding it very hot here especially when training, but their rooms are all airconditioned and comfortable so that definitely makes things very easier for them all. There is a great feeling of friendship, sportsmanship and happiness when you enter the village, and the people of Singapore are amazing and friendly and are wonderful hosts
We were lucky enough to sit in on a team meeting and a talk with Nick Green a previous gold medal winner from the Olympics in rowing - he was inspirational and motivational when speaking to the girls and it was a privilege to be present.
After we left the Village Courtney and I headed back to Orchard Road, Courtney just HAD to buy these wedge shoes she saw previously and thought...........and thought...........and thought about and decided that they would be perfect for her. So we bought the shoes, not the ones she thought........etc. about, but similar ones, a top, an ice cream, dinner, another pair of shoes and we found the Asian confectionery....on no! We will just have to walk harder and faster to make up for the yummy stuff we are now finding.
Anyway, caught the MRT home and then off to bed, another busy day tomorrow, think it will be around the Raffles area.
Will keep you posted.
