OK 1 week to go. Officially nervous and anxious. Quigley hurt his knee so he is out. Attempts to have him get a brace and cowboy up were unsuccessful. Lets run down the roster as it stands:
1. Me
2. Shoeless Joe McGovern (vital on any trip - within seconds can charm a girl into providing anything we need, food, shelter, transpo, etc. - Just so long as I don't have to listen to the rap it's fine)
3. Chris Wode - a soccer veteran and world traveler
4. Richard Bendall - will join us in Spain. What's great about Richard is that he is so large (I think 6 foot 5 and well over 300) that I look petite standing next to him. The big shoes are a bit disconcerting tho :)
Others may join at other locations. Charles is back in London and may join us in Amsterdam. Too bad they got back so late - would have been nice to skip Barcelona and hit London for 24 hours on the way to the 'Dam. It's always great to hang out with Charles & Jen, they are always fun and I always end up interacting with women who wouldn't normally talk to me even if I had just pulled them from a burning plane crash....
This weekend will consist of checking my passport 11 or 12 times, list-making, printing reservations and reciepts, packing, laundry, cleaning out the fridge, etc. After about a year of planning the end is in sight!
The weather report looks iffy - AMS and Zurich will be cooler, but I expect to roast in Spain and Eastern Europe. One of these years I need to convince people that the World Hockey Championships would be much cooler to attend than soccer - better games and better weather. I would much rather be strolling a snowy street in Copenhagen, Moscow and Prague than sweating next to some smelly Zidane fan in a 120 degree stadium.....
