Another long day travelling on a bus(9 hours) brought us to another beach town of Huanchaco. This was another big surfing town where the swell was much bigger than in Mancora. Unfortunately I didn`t get a chance to go surfing as we decided to get a half day tour to the largest Pre-Colombian city in South America, Chan Chan. This huge city, much of which is still being excavated today, was composed of ten walled palaces. Most of the walls were made of mud brick and carved with intricate designs. It was an amazing sight walking through the palace to see all the designs on the walls and then to come to a big oasis in the middle of the city built for irrigation purposes. We also visited the Temple of the Sun and Moon built by the ancient Moche people. A brilliant tour overall with excellent english speaking guides.
