Where I stayed
We all love Tuscany so much that we would love to stay longer!
We still have another 3 days here before heading to Rome!
A quick update on the last two days;
Sunday - a quiet morning sleeping in & reading books as we have the annual Luminara Festival in Pisa that night! THis is when 70,000 candles illuminate the streets running along the Arno River to honor their patron saint (San Ranieri) Wow it was like New Years Eve in Oz, Quiet spectacular to view at night & ended with a spectacular fire works display at 11.30pm. We think there were over 300,000 people there celebrating & partying. Pisa is a beautiful city & full of young university students who love to party
We also went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa & did the usual touristy photos - quiet spectacular in real life after seeing it on so many pizza boxes! We also saw the Baptistry & Duomo Facade - another two magnificient structures!
We had a sleep in today & a swim in the pool, temperature is 36 degrees today! Kids all lazing by pool reading books, I do not think they have realised that the tv works yet! Meg & Tom just coping without wifi!
AFter lunch we head off on another adventure to Lucca a genteel city of opera & olive oil (apparently) The old town is contained within a 1500 year old wall that we cycled around for two hours! Admiring the scenery, some more churches, piazza's etc It was lovely to ride around instead of walk & between us all I think we scared a few Italians/tourist with our road rules. Meg & Tom were on a tandem bike & had a few narrow escapades - very funny!
Had dinner within the walls & saw an Italian Music/band walking through the plaza & Tom ended up playing soccer ( yes I know) with the resturant owners son! He was worn out!
I think we are off to Florence tomorrow
