Aaron has a Saskatchewan Roughrider T-shirt in his wardrobe rotation, and it makes an appearance about every 4 days or so.... He happened to be wearing said shirt on our first day in Colonia and, as we walking back to our hostel an afternoon of checking out the historic center of the city, we heard a voice frantically shouting (in heavily accented English) "Skatcheeewan!!! Skatcheeewan!!!". We turned around and this big bubbly french man jumped up from his café table to greet us. "We were there!" "We were there!" he said, pointing to Aaron´s shirt and beaming in a most surprising (and heart-warming) way. His two friends were equally happy and enthusiastic about meeting us -- although they didn´t jump up from the table like he had.
The man, from France we later found out, had been in Saskatchewan last summer to visit a friend and had LOVED our province. Embarrassingly, I´m not even sure which little town he had visited (I didn´t recognize the name of it), but he told us a story about buying honey from a farmers market.... which apparently went over very well. He was so happy to see us and kept shaking our hands and grinning at us that it was fantastic.... and weird...but really surprising and wonderful!
So anyhow, KUDOS to you Saskatchewan, you´ve left a good impression!!!
