I made it here! All is very good; we have been in training this past week, so it's a lot of info, but all very useful. From what I have seen, the country is Gorgeous. I can't wait to explore it all and go to the mountains and beaches and see everything. My host family is wonderful, a woman Wendy, who is 31 and her son Oscar, 7. They are very welcoming, but give me space, too, if I need it. We are training 6 days a week, so we only have Sundays off right now to do whatever, but Sat. is only until noon. The people in the DR are extremely nice, very hospitable. My Spanish isn't great, but I can def. feel myself improving daily, so that's encouraging! We have had a Peace Corps volunteer come talk to us, and she was so great, very reassuring that everything is OK and Spanish comes and will not be a problem. I'm excited to be fluent eventually! I have a lot to say, but only a few mins left on the computer! I can't have visitors for the first 6 months here, but after that it's open season, so start planning! :) The weather is awesome, so warm and not humid yet, which I'm pretty grateful for.
