I made it to Europe!!! I have been awake now for 40+ hours but our teachers insist that we stay up to avoid Jet Lag. My first flight was awesome--I played a lot of bejeweled on the plane and made it to level 7 which I was pretty proud of. The 20 minute decent was rough on my ears and they are still a little crackly from the elevation change, but I am in good shape for a first time flyer. The Amsterdam Airport was about the size of Brule County. It was really nice to have Dr. Schorn, our program director with us who knew where to go though. We had a three hour layover so we got to explore a little bit. Our flight to Maastricht was very small--we had to ride a bus to the plane and we loaded it just like the movie stars load their private jets--I felt like a superstar...kind of..
That flight went so fast that they served us bruch right when we reached out elevation and I was still chewing my circle shaped granola bar when we were landing. Once we got to the Maastricht airport we found a taxi van and he insisted that four of us and 10 luggage pieces would fit in the van...much to our discomfort, we did. We saved lots of money though :)
My room at the University has lots of room for improvement and everyone's room is a different size and shape, but it makes our experience that much more unique. I am able to hang 8 items in my closet but I have a sink and a huge wall of windows to make up for it. We took a walk around Maastricht and I am officially in love!! It is so hard to explain--it seems so picture perfect-just like the movies or those romance novels that you read. Around every corner is a Church that is either still in use or remodeled into something else. Pretty amazing!! We ate at a cute little Italian Pizzaria where I had a Margharhita Pizza (delicious!!) and a 1/2 liter of a beer that started with a G that made me feel like I hadn't just traveled halfway around the world. I have met a few of the other students that have been straggling in and have hope for some great new friendships.
I need to unpack my room to make it a little homier and possibly a shower so I will leave my entry at this for now. I can't wait to share everything else with you--Europe is AMAZING!!!

Hi Kelsey. I just got done reading your entry and looing at your pictures and it made me cry. I think it just sunk in that you are in another country and I can't just give you a call or see you in a few weeks. You have so many awesome experiences ahead of you, and I'm sure you are too busy to get too homesick yet! Make sure you try to stay safe and have as much fun as possible! I already miss you and I am praying for your journey to continue to be a success. I love you!
Your big sis, Leslie
