Well I made it to Malaysia and I've reeeally been packing in the sightseeing!!!! In KL I started at the Batu Caves (holy Hindu caves up 272 steps....more exercise!) which were infested with mean little of them was propoer staring me out...and won! I was scared for my life (or at least not to get my face ripped to shreds by rabid monkey fangs!) Did the usual sights in KL....went up KL Tower (the 4th tallest building in the World) for some cool views over KL and of the Petronas Towers....did a flying fox off the building...not the top though....was actually not that high at all but hey!!!
Then headed north of KL to the Cameron Highlands....nice and rainy (I'm never gonna get a tan...have I mentioned yet that I'm actually whiter than when I left London!!). Met some really cool girls (Londoners might I add!) at the hostel (the dorms are converted WWII bunkers)...and we all went on some tour of the highlands...was soooo wicked! We started off by trekking through Mossy Forest...proper ducking and diving through low-lying trees/branches/randomness. I am pretty confident I can now actually survive if I was lost in the jungle....clued up natural anaesthetics/non-poisonous food/aphrodisiacs! We the went to the tea extate and were very English indeed...had a pot of tea on the terrace overlooking the tea plantations! What jokes!
We the went on to meet some local tribesmen, the Orang-Asli people. However, on the way our guide grinded to a halt in his landrover adnd ran out of the car int he oppoosite direction leaving us all behind...we then realised he was shouting 'snake' s we all jumped out and ran after him....he's spotted a small Saw Scale Viper....he picked it up on a stick to save it from being squashed int he road...but also so we could get a good look at it...I was the only one not chicken enough to hold it (on th stick...I wanslt about to get bitten!)! We then carried on our journey to the Orang-Aslis wher we were taken my the tribesman int the forest and he scaled a massive waterfall impressive. At the hut we were treated to some traditional dancing and musical instuments (including a nose flute that some people thogut was a normal flute and put in their mouth...yuk!) ended us up all damcing around some camp fire in this bamboo hut with all these tribespeople dressed in pretty much nothing but a loincloth...the smoke fumes made it seeem like we were actually in a proper little surreal! We also tried out their hunting weaponms...the poison darted blow pipes...v cool...I wasn;t v accurate though! Was such a good trip....really cultural but fun!
Went back to KL the next day to go to the Elephant sanctuary in Kuala Gandah. Was so cool....the elephants were so amazing...I fed them magoes, papaya and nbanaas by holding the fruit and putting my hand right inside their mouths to the back of theor throats....v slimey! I also had a quick rid eon one of the adult elephants, which was bumpy and short but so cool!! We coudl have got in the riiver with the elephants and bathed them but earlier I saw one of them do a HUGE poo...a floater...bigger than my arm....deffo wan;t getting in that water!!! Some little baby elephants visited us later and they were the sweetest things some cool photos of me and them to show u all!
Borneo next...jungeling it up!
