Wow what a week. It is amazing how tiring working can be when you are not used to it. I had my last day of freedom which was a glorious day with sunshine. I spoilt myself with sitting out on the waterfront which is easily my favorite place when the weather is nice and having a great pizza then had a personal training session at the gym. Little bit topsy turvy way of doing it but hey! Tuesday I started at Hays and it was shock to the system having a full day's work after not working for over 6 months. But then I realised I had got away lightly..9 30 until 5 when from then onwards my working day was to be 8am to 5 30pm. It felt very strange to have such regimented hours ...they even specify when we are supposed to be at our desks. There are rules on dress code and we are expected to wear pantihose with skirts...well screw that! At least until I get my work stuff from the UK. Clothes here are expensive and poor quality.
It feels so strange to have one desk which is my own and have set working hours and a dress code. After 5 years of never being in the same place and travelling all the time for work it is so strange to know my route to work, plan gym and social occations in the evenings and walk to and from work. But it is also amazing! I move into my new place on Sunday assuming I find/buy a bed before that. Then once that is done I will be settled. Probably for the first time in years...maybe since uni where I live where I work and don't travel for work.
It was glorious weather all through the week but come Friday it turned gloomy, grey and raining. It put a complete damper on my plans over the weekend. It was just that horrible you didn't want to venture outside. I went to drinks with work people on the Friday and joined Jodene (the other new girl) at her friends drinks. I got cornered by this guy who spent at least an hour explaining how lucky he was to have a wife who accepted his kids....I was a little like I kind of know that already...and I don't have my own kids! I ended up tripping up on my way home and just lying there on the pavement in shock and embaressment...probably making passersby think I was more hurt than I was. I managed to give myself a black knee but not rip one of only two pairs of trousers I have here so that was good.
At the weekend I was so exhausted I met up with a friend for brunch then headed back to bed! All was raining afterall so nothing lost. I went to the theatre in the evening and it felt great to get out and see some culture. I went to see the Great Gatsby which is a little like the 39 Steps based in the 20s with a few people playing loads of roles. Sunday was literally looking for stuff for the house like duvets, pillows and sheets. Starting to feel very settled and can not imagine picking up my bag to move onto the next place! No desire to do that whatsoever. I am going to try and get away for a couple of weekends with people at some point but my travels are over for a bit. I don't think you can travel for more than 6 months continuously without it starting to wear you down. I am now going to be in Europe over Dec for a month so looking forward to seeing everyone!

Looks stunning, in the sunshine, but I bet it is gloomy in the rain! You will soon get used to the routine of work, Good luck with the bed! xx
