Where I stayed
When we got back for our afternoon snooze which turned into an afternoon gossip while you try and sleep we realised why the room smelt so much of bleach - it was to disguse the damp smell
We ventured out about 7 ish in search of adventure. Actually decided to dress up (or not wear our fisherman pants at least). We had a couple of pictures taken on the bridge by a passerby who decided to zoom up so much you could see our pores but not where we were. Mmm! That picture didn't make the cutting room floor. Clark Key felt like a little bit of Europe in Asia. It was so nice to have a girly night out where neither of us was worried about how to get back or whether we were going to get stared at etc. Girly gossip over the first glass of wine I have had since SA. Perfect!
The next day I check into a dorm back at the hostel as Issy is flying home that night. I don't realise at the time there are 18 beds in one room. I feel like I am 18 again and even then I wasn't poor enough to voluntarily stay in 18 person dorms. It was as bad as you can imagine people coming in and out all the time the light on, people with plassic bags (why people
We venture out to try and find the WW2 museum and can't decide between the 2 choices. Suspect a lack of food was involved. End up having salads for lunch at hairdresser - go figure only in Singapore. We find the battle box at 12.10 only to be told it is shut for lunch 12-1 and that the sound and visual parts aren't working. Great...it is 32 degrees it feels like 100% humidity and we are both ready to die and the museum we climbed up the hill for is closed. GET ME INTO SOME AIRCONDITIONING! I have never experienced humidity like that before. It wasn't too bad the first day but then it was raining then so you couldn't tell. We head to a mall via taxi as the brain has just shut down gossip a bit then realise that 3 malls into our quest for a laptop this one still doesn't have electronics stores. We then find the right one and spend 2 hours getting Issy a laptop. It feels like a rerun of my time in Hong Kong. Get some food before heading to Raffles. We are unfortunately both too poor and too hungover from yesterday to get a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar. But Issy manages to finish off the present list in the gift shop.
Back at the hostel we both attempt to make our computers work...problem with having a laptop it makes you antisocial. And some IT developers sitting next to us aren't much help. Although I do get given 10 films to put onto my laptop...finally evening entertainment for those nights where I don't fancy a solitary dinner avec Kindle. Was gutted to see Issy go - thankfully with the passport I had been carrying for her. It felt the same as when Angelika and Jane left awesome girls I am going to miss!
