Our good friend, Jason, let us shack up at his house for a few weeks. Having a home base during our visit was definitely a bonus. Plus, it gave us a lot more time to chill with our friends.
We decided that since we had the ability to be tourists in Boulder for the first time, we should take full advantage of it. So, we headed to the mountains our third day in town - and pretty much for the next 5 days. We went to Brainard Lake and got in some amazing hiking days. Blue Lake was especially gorgeous. Wildflowers were still everywhere, and the snow melting had formed small waterfalls that fed into the lake. The sun was shining and the workout was necessary. Unfortunately, although many people had spotted moose, we saw none.
While we were up in the area, we also had some time to visit our good friends (Melanie and Jake). They just rented a house in Gold Hill, and they definitely have it made up there.
They have amazing views, and they share their bunches of acres with horses and goats. We camped in their front yard for a night. It's funny how I always feel more at home while sleeping in a tent.
We couldn't have chosen a better time to visit Boulder. Well, maybe we could have since it seems that anytime of year there is amazing. But we definitely enjoyed the time of year we chose.
