National Park
Entry 72 of 72 | show all | print this entry |
We have been busy busy, sorry for not posting in a while. We spent a few days in a national park in Montenegro. It was quite an adventure to get there. We took a very small bus on a one way road which was used to go both ways, with locals who were less that ideally smelling. It was a little bit scary winding back and forth up the hills and down the hills through the mountains, without a guard rail. There was not much in the way of civilization on the way out to this place, and I began to wonder if we were indeed going the right way, and if we would find a place to stay and stuff to eat when we got there. But we finally arrived at the quaint mountain town Zabljak. We promply hooked up with a young girl who let us stay in her house for a measely 7 usd a night. It was clean, and nice but chilly!!! The next day we went rafting in Tara canyon. Said to be the second largest in the world after the Grand Canyon. Later in the afternoon we hiked around a bit and saw some glacier lakes. And along the way we made a friend in the way of a dog. He followed us hiking up a hill and through some pastures. He seemed to be very upset when he couldn't get through a fence to us. We don't know how he got so attached, we still don't know if he was stray or not. The next day he picked us up again for a morning walk to see the mountains, and he proceeeded to follow us around town. Even insisting to wait outside the restaruant while we had breakfast! He was a good dog indeed, and we miss him already! Now we are in Romanian. Info on that for the next post. Hope all are well!
