Ok, its true, I am not in Bangkok anymore. Though I wish I were, I am back to work and my chilly little island. I do have to go back and recount what happened in Thailand though as I did not have enough time to do it while I was there. So I shall forego telling you the exciting events of my days at Futenma for now and slip for a moment to the blissful time that was my vacation in Thailand. I was in Thailand from Dec. 22nd basically to Jan. 6th. It was a most perfect trip with most of the planning being done by Craig. (Hey it was my bright idea to go there, he worked out all the details- it was brillant!) We did a lot while we were there. No rest and relaxation for us, well ok I guess we did a little, but also we did a lot of sightseeing. And I took far far to many pictures. How did people survive before digital cameras? I would guess I took about 1000 pictures. No, I will not bore you each and everyone of them. I will just try to pick out the best of course.
Ok we started off early in the morning in Bangkok on the morning of the 22nd
Saturday we found our way to the weekend market. And I was in heaven. It was the best market I have been to in any country by far. And thats says a lot because I love markets and shopping and bargaining, doesn`t really matter where it is
The next morning we awoke very early. The plan was to view the floating market early, so as to avoid the tourist that came in bus loads later in the day and get a real feel for the traditional side of the market. And it worked! We had the canals mostly to ourselves. It was wonderful, we had a nice boat driver who took us along and we bought lots and lots of different fruits. We feasted on fruits. They were really cheap and pretty delicious. Some of them we had no idea what they were, but they were tasty. After we had feasted on the fruits and seen some of the canals, we headed back to Bangkok. Where we got a our first Thai massage. (And really you should send me an email if you want more details about that) Then we watched Muay (sp) Thai boxing. They love the boxing. It was pretty interesting I guess. Also they LOVE the king. I mean LOVE he is everywhere, buildings, paintings, shirts, sidewalks, resturaunts, everywhere. Its crazy. And that brings me to the end of this post. I will be doing the trip in installment so as not to overwhelm you. And next time I get a chance I`ll be writing about Cambodia so........
Stay tuned!!

. Craig had typed up a tentative schedule for us each day. The agenda for the day was to find the tourist office, see two wats, and look for a suit shop. That promply got thrown out the minute we stepped out the door. We ended up spending the morning falling into and getting out of tourist traps, and scams. For each one we avoided, we got ourselves into another one. By the afternoon we were back on track, saw two famous spots in Bangkok, Wat Pho and the Grand Palace and had learned our lesson. Although we never managed to make it to a legit tourist office. We managed to avoid all, ok well most scams and tricks and mistakes for the rest of our trip. Actually for the rest of the trip we seemed to have the perfect luck and the perfect timing everywhere we went! We wandered around the city a bit and found dinner. Stumbled into a flower market where there were more flowers than I`ve ever seen in my life. That evening we watched traditional Thai dance in the form of Kohn. It was very beautiful. The costumes were elaborate, the music was magical, and it was all very enchanting. The music however had this special power to make my eyes soooo heavy toward the end I could hardly keep them open. . There were soooo many things. They had everything from tourist items, to kitchen untensils, and furtiture. It was brillant. I wished we could have stayed or gone back but alas, six hours was all we had to spare there. We got lost in all the items, and rows they even had live animals for sale! Needless to say, there was so much to look at that I didn`t even buy much! That evening we found a tailor and got fitted for suits. Then we took a bus to a small town outside of Bangkok. The next morning we awoke very early.
