In two days Japan time, three days Minnesota time, I will get to see a familiar face for the first time in eight months. I am sooooo excited that my friend Lis is coming to visit me, I can't even explain it! We are going to meet in Tokyo and cruise around site-seeing for a few days before she comes to my little island! I haven't seen anything on the mainland- so it is going to be double cool to see it with one of my best friends from college!! Wahoooo!!! It is going to be amazing! I can't wait! I hope that she is ready for this place and I can do a good job showing her around!

So this is a quick update because as usual I haven't really posted anything of significance lately. My japanese continues to suck, and my English truly gets worse everyday and it is like I am going back in time with my vocabulary and sentence structure. I hope someday it all comes together and information comes back to me so I can communicate effectively 01- at the picnic in the park
01- at the picnic in the park

I went to America this weekend. Ya- really I did. Some of you may or may not be aware that there are several American military bases on this tiny little island. I am not sure of the number I'm going to guess around 10 or more. And there are about 20,000 military personal here. I'm guessing on that too, sorry I don't feel like researching it. Anyway, there are quite a few Americans here. Usually, I don't see many of them, except for in their cars and occasionally when I go shopping in Chatan otherwise known as "American village" anyway. On the bases they have everything they need. Libraries, Subway, Chili's, a store like Walmart, bowling, movie theaters.....whatever they need it is there, so most of them don't really leave. We are not allowed on base with out a military person. It is pretty much impossible and therefore I haven't been on a base except for one time to see a movie. In order to shop you have to have someone with you to check you in and what not. It is all tight security. However, this weekend I was lucky enough to meet some decent people that let me get Subway and some American munchies. It was crazy. I was in shock half the time I think from seeing products I hadn't seen in months and actually being able to understand what all the products were. The store has everything from Bath and Body works to gardening supplies and food. It was huge and there were many things I just simply forgot about 02- Mifu
02- Mifu
. Anyway- it was very interesting and I got Cheeze-its, Milky ways, chocolate chip cookies, and a few other things and it was brillant. So was the Subway. They don't really do cold cut sandwhichs here, at least if they do, I haven't found the place yet. So next time you are eating at Jimmy John's, subway, or Quizno's think of me because those are places I will definately go when I get home. Enough of that.

School is good. It is weird getting use to the new teachers, but it is going pretty good. They are a lot more shy than my previous teachers, but its good. They have lots of "welcome" activities for the change of the school year. So 1st we had this welcome thing where all the kids in "club" activities like volleyball do a little performance. Then there is this sports day where all the classes dress up in weird outfits and play volleyball or basketball all day. There are welcome parties just for teachers. One for the whole school and one for your individual deptartment. So on Friday night I have to go to the welcome party for the English deptartment. Then there is a picnic day. Where the school goes to a park and plays games and eats lunch. So today I did that with my visiting school- it was really fun. Those kids are so cute. I love seeing them and hanging out with them. I got to play on the playground and got one of the little girls who was extremely scared of me, to fall in love with me!! Whenever she couldn't see me, I heard-- Kelly-sensei wa?? (meaning where is kelly? ) And my heart melted!!!

I started an English club at my school. There are about 18 or so odd girls, not quite sure how it is all going to work out but it should be fun and a good way for me to get to know some of the kids better! They want to have American penpals- hopefully I can convince my dad that it really is a good idea for his students to communicate with my students who write sentences like- my food favorite are sushi.

Alright thats all for now- pretty scattered and random. Look for beautiful pics of the mainland next week or probably more like in two weeks but whatever.
