Sports day is starting to make a little more sense to me- it is still going to be held, despite the fact they have been saying all week there is a typhoon coming. I guess typhoon translate to maybe we will have strong winds and some rain, but we are not really sure. So when we did sports day practice, most of the day I just wandered around and took pictures. But I did do the warm up and cool down with the kids- they all get together on the field and do some Japanese stretches-even the teachers. This is a typical practice in Japanese businesses and companies- to do a morning stretch together before starting the day. I learned about it one of my business classes, and I thought ya, this movie is from 1985 too- they don`t do that anymore. But I have seen it first hand- on the bus on the way to school peering into windows- and car garages I see the workers come together and stretch. Seems kind of silly when you see it, but wait until you do it. I stood out there- watching the kids and trying not to swing my arms the wrong way, and I got this overwhelming sense of belonging and community. Try it- I dare ya. Hope you enjoy the pics!
