We first did a tour of the USS Midway- which is an aircraft carrier that was decommissioned a couple of years ago. It was cool to see all the old planes, sitting in the cockpit and getting to wander around the ship.
We had another greasy US burger for lunch.... Kelly is so over the food and is hanging for veggies!!!
Next we joined our tour to Tijuana - there was a whole 6 of us on the bus!! Crossing over the boarder into Mexico was easy but straight away you started to see the poverty and their very interesting way of life. Our tour guide gave us the whole run down - do not go into always, where the good food was that wouldn't give us the shits for days, where the good leather was, do not by gold (there is no real gold in Mexico), where the good toilet was and where the 3 for 1 Margareta deals where. Our tour guides name was Dean but in Mexico his name was King Dean and if we dropped his name around then we would get good deals. So he dropped us off in the main street and we were on our own for 3 hours...
First thing you notice as you walk down the street is everyone trying to drag you into there shops and shoving different crap in your face that you must buy. We hit the recommended restaurant - ordered a Chicken Burrito and Banana & Peach Margareta's - which were yummo!! We hit the street again and decided to have a hand a bartering - which Kelly completely sucked at!! She wanted a genuine knockoff Gucci bag - the shop lady said $45 and Kelly said okay then... Thomas just about chocked his tongue and dragged Kelly out of the store until the woman dropped her price to $20. The liquor store was great - they kept shoving tequila shots down your throat - there motto is that the drunker you get the more tequila you will buy. We did walk out with 2 bottles!! By this time Kelly needs to go to the loo - so she braved her first Mexican toilet which was completely disgusting and she feared for her life.
We walked around - brought some more touristy crap and then were very glad to see our bus driver and board our bus to head back to the USA!
The border cross over was an experience in itself - and we were very happy not to get pulled into the secondary check in for a strip search. But we made it - wouldn't say we would go back again - but definitely one of those things you have to experience!!
