What an early start. We both slept well and had to get up early for our tour of the city. Got picked up at 8am (which is actually 1am Perth time), herded onto the bus and around the city we went.

The city of San Fran is amazing and is full of beautiful Victorian and Old English style houses. We passed a couple of movie spots - Mrs Doubtfires house and the Museum where Sean Connery met his Daughter in The Rock (The Pillars).

Then onto the Golden Gate Bridge. Fantastic to see and sooooo big.

Took a look at the beach - if you could call it that - Ocean Beach, where the Pacific crashes against the West Coast. Through Golden Gate Park next and this is one of the biggest parks we have ever seen. The tour guide filled us in on lots of San Fran facts - we are definitely not to keen on the fact that San Fran can experience up to 30 Earth Quakes a day. Finished the tour by going through Chinatown and Little Italy. The bus dropped us off at Pier 33 for an hour before catching the ferry to the Rock.

We had lunch at Pier 33. Boudin was the place to go - the Beef stew and Soup the food of choice. A quick look around the Pier and then back for our trip to Prison.

Alcatraz was an experience, an amazing place to visit - it has so much history and is so humbling. The audio tour was great and very well organised... Thomas purchased his little bit of the rock - our baggage weight limits are already a bit of a worry.

The day ended with a very chilly but exhilarating cable car ride back to our hotel. Hanging onto the outside of the car by the time we got off our fingers were completely numb...
