Well what a huge couple of days and way to start off this travel blog.  Our weekend started with dinner at Kailis with Mum & Dad (which was yummo!), and then Mum reviewing all our packing and making sure we hadn't forgotten anything.  Finally got to bed around 11pm - knowing that we had to get up at 1.30am to get to the airport to pick Adam up.

Adam arrived and we sent him off to look after our cats and house sit for 6 weeks... Here begins the 3 and a half hour wait till our flight - Qantas club definitely made things more comfortable (now we know how the other half lives). But now i am sure that Economy Class flights are definitely someones sick idea and are torture - thank god that we managed to pass out as soon as we boarded and woke up just as we were landing!!

On arrival to Sydney we decided on a quick snack of Krispy Kremes and went to the transit bus, across to international we went.  Clearing customs we had a look at duty free and found ourselves a travel mascot, you will get to meet STEVE and join in his adventures later.

The Qantas Club was a great place to relax for 2 hours and then on the plane for the long trek to San Francisco.

What a long flight.  We only managed to get a couple of hours sleep each as the people behind weren't the best, thanks for the knees in the back and pulling the seat.

Landed in San Francisco, finally.  Customs was no problems but we felt like criminals having given our finger prints and a photo.  After a little wait for the bags we caught the train - BART - into the City and to our hotel.

We found out first hand about the cities hills as we had to climb one all the way to our hotel.  Gorgeous Classic San Fran Hotel and really close to all the expensive stores, Macys and Bloomingdales just to name two of them.

The last challenge for the day was to stay awake until 8.00pm San Francisco time - 3.00am Perth - to fight the dreaded jet lag.  Success was ours and now it is off to bed as we have a big day tomorrow with the city of San Francisco.

Steve's sleeping soundly...
I'm guessing the only way Steve could get to sleep was on the All Blacks pillow; the bright yellow on a Wally-bees pillow would have kept the the whole plane awake.

Looking forward to seeing Steve's travels. Hopefully he won't ditch you both and hook up with others.
