What we did:

We woke at 6:15 to the sound of heavy rain and were on the road at 7:30 for a lunchtime visit from 12-2:30 in SALZBURG. Even the steady rain and drizzle couldn’t mar the beauty of this jewel which sits astride the Salzach River. We split into two groups, one was the optional guided tour group and the rest of us followed Chiara to Mozart square to be on our own. We had time for a sit down lunch, followed by trotting about town snapping pictures. It’s much smaller, more scenic, better maintained, without graffiti and so it looks better than Vienna. To get to Innsbruck Austria we crossed Germany for 30 minutes and you could notice the cars speed increased as there is no limit for them. Chiara had a very good idea and arranged for a one hour rest stop/visit to the Swarovski crystal factory exhibition show room. It’s a smart use of a rest stop and she got us the group rate of 6 Euros or 50% off the single price. This is a must see whatever the price, because of the amazingly creative audio visual artistic display you get to experience before the showroom. They also have an incredible variety of affordable and unaffordable beautiful things. We arrived about 6:40 and had our included supper in this pretty hotel at 7:30. A few extra drinks were enjoyed on the spacious and attractive outdoor patio before calling it a night.
