On Saturday, May 24th, I went hiking up to the hills East of Honolulu. My original intentions had been to follow a tourist track to a small waterfall, have lunch, and return. However, upon reaching the waterfall I discovered another set of trails that led up the cliff to a ridge lookout.

I stopped there for lunch where I met a couple who described a number of different ways to get down the hills. They also described a 4 hour continuation to my current hike that would take me to the top of one of the larger hills on Oahu.

Taking them at their word, I tried a number of different routes down the hills. As it turns out, there were approximately 20 trails that all intersected near the top of the hill, and it took nearly four hours to traverse them. I will certainly be heading back to those hills to continue my adventures. Of note, this trail set is one of about 15 different regions of trails on Oahu, so even once these are done, there will be plenty of other trails to explore.

Next weekend is finally going to be my North Shore trip, which will bring me to plenty more beaches, hikes, and apparently some good snorkelling.
