After waving cheerio to dougal we head off again today hoping to get to Canberra tonight- but that's quite a way for maz ! the rolling countryside takes us through ned Kelly country at glenrowan, past Holbrook with its submarine stuck in the park - miles from sea but something to do with a famous british commander from world war one (will need a history lesson when we get home on this one- there was a museum here too with no doubt a full rendition of whys and wherefores but we are in too much of a hurry to stop) and on to another aussie legend at gundagi - the home of the dog on the tuckerbox- don't have time to find out all about this either - anyone know the story? Making quite a thing of it so must be worth looking into..

pretty cool
. we're doing really well today despite all the roadworks on this highway - it's the main road between Melbourne and Sydney and the freeway link is being constructed alongside the existing road and it looks like chaos everywhere! But we can cope with the speed limits in maz 60km hour and there arnt any serious holdups to cope with. So Canberra it is for tonight- we find a bed for the night on the outskirts of the city in a motel that when we get past the security barricade we realise was probably once an army barracks!! We get a brickbuilt shithouse converted with 3 beds to resemble a hotel in the dark (ages) for our ninety bucks a night but the fish and chips just down the road are good. In fact anywhere down the road looks good from where we stand by our beds right now. Fall in troops!
