apparently after leaving Geraldton and heading north there arnt any traffic lights until you reach Broome which is way beyond where we are heading for so that will be interesting....The roads are long and empty and Urnie rattles a bit in the back with all the pots and pans but Dan and Jim take it in turns to drive to our next destination - Kalbarri. On the way we stop to gaze at the Pink Lake at Port Gregory - it really is pink! Not long afterwards we reach Kalbarri - what a sight for sore eyes! Where the Murchison River meets the ocean a stunning bay with different shades of blue sea awaits after descending the heights of Red Bluff cove. we go rockpooling here and see lots of crabs hiding in the rocks . not big enough to eat tho' Doh! our campsite is just off the main street Kalbarri Tudor. not as welcoming as the others we have already stayed at - when we got to our plot a gestapo guard cam e round and we got the impression that he didnt like us putting up our tent on his precious grass "what a tent- what do you think this is - a campsite?" we were taking the piss by then
1st Kangaroos
. but carried on regardless . Later we find out this guy is from Ramsgate - say no more! We also soon discover that Kalbarri must be the moth capital of W.A. there are thousands of them. flies too. there had to be something that stopped this being the real paradise. this town is completly geared up for the tourists - lots to do and see unless you want to eat after 8pm that is. because of a long day travelling we opt for a takeaway anything we can get so Bev and Jim walk into town. its 7.45. it's shut. everything but the pub is shut . bugger pub it is then. hurray they will do takeaway pizza. and a guiness. but dont tell the kids. get back to site with said pizza. kids reckon they've seen kangaroos. bugger j & b thought we were lucky finding a pub and pizza. doh!
