The highs and lows of flying
We've done it!!
First of all thanks everyone for the send off at Millers it was great. Here we are in Perth WA after our mega trek. It's a canny shank to get here and this blog is about our journey.
It started at Dover docks (where else!) at 8:30pm Sunday 21st October. National Express 007 got us to London and then on to Heathrow with a geriatric driver that reminded us of Ron - same driving skills! On getting to the airport we discovered that the quiet little corner we had sussed out on our reccie visit had already been nabbed by two other travellers, so we had to make do with the draughty coach lounge with automatic doors that had a mind of their own
Check In was easy next morning - no overweight bags unless you count Bev and Jim! Nerves are jangling by now so we all try chilling in the shopping area. Retail therapy. Doing a bit of people watching Bev spots THE Paul Young in the café "living on free food tickets and living on love with the common people and he can" (80's joke there somewhere). Ryan suggest buying a CD in HMV and getting him to autograph it then flogging it on Ebay, so Bev and Nattie leg it to HMV store only to find they must of sold-out, coz there wasn't a copy of Pauls fab songs to be had! Desperation engages brain and we find an 80's compilation with wherever I lay my hat. Result - hot-foot back to café only to find he'd already gone... Paul - come back and stay for good next time!
Proceed to departure gate, first sight of a plane and in the excitement, some low-life decides to nick Bev's fleece with the suitcase keys and Natties ipod in the pocket. Can't wait to leave this place.
Board the jumbo - Malaysian Airways 747 and after being led through the business class seats we shoe-horn ourselves into cattle class otherwise known as economy. Spend an hour waiting to take off, only 13 to go before pitstopping that Lewis Hamilton would be proud of in Kuala Lumpur - shame about the Grand Prix result.
Geeze it's a long way! Everyone ok on plane but second leg turns us all in to zombies. So much time and so little sleep.... What happened to Monday? The bumpy landing at Perth 3pm bring us out of the coma and we find our way through customs no problems. Bolt croppers sort out the padlocks on the baggage - No Worries Mate!
Red Spot car hire company waiting for us with fab nearly new Toyota Tarago (yes an automatic big Tony!). Within 10mins we are at our first home - a family chalet at Banksia Tourist Park. Couldn't be better. Shark 'n' Chips for dinner and we find a beer shop. Real beds too.... Time to inspect our eyelids - catch you later.

Everytime you go away
Is it just my suspicious mind? Paul Young disappears without trace and at the same time Natties iPod. I mean, that man built a career on nicking other peoples songs. Still, at 7 foot nothing, he can't hide for long. Then again wasn't Lord Lucan just as tall? Oh well now I'm waffling. As PY used to say
'Everytime you go away' (or turn your back!) 'I take a piece of you with me'. I hope iPods are cheaper in Oz.
